The pope is not likely to be excommunicated, but everything that we the spell of the Catholic Church.
The pope can not go agaisnt excomunicated Catholic dogma that the Pope is on matters of faith and moral certainty infaliable. Excomunicating a pope means equality of the bishops, a doctrine of Rome, abandoned during the Middle Ages, but the Orthodox are still held by the Church.
