It takes about 2 weeks to 2 months to 2 years, depending on how long it will take. Just think of who is in a better place, on the other side of the bridge rainbow in the sky or puppies. Just keep your mind on other things, like his other dog, because one day it will be gone too, just do not want to pass the time, which is her dog to another, happy to be here, and the others always there. Go play ball with him!

depends on the person. Someone needs two days, someone might to 2 years.
My guinea pig died in December, about 2 weeks and still cry whenever I think about them or see a picture.

We had our dog put to sleep for 1 years. It was very devastating for us all. And to tell you the truth, not again! My dog is always in my heart and I think I'll never forget my first dog!

As with humans, the tragic death of a pet is more difficult to treat it and overcome it. In my opinion, not really "get over" the death of a pet. Finally, the sadness is fading, and he is more inclined to think the animal's life and happy memories, rather than dwell on how you are missing and how sad his death. I think that is in a few months to feel more at peace with the situation.

It's been 15 months ago, my boy died. I'm still not "over" him. But time is your best friend. This poem helped me in the days after his death:

On this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

If a dead animal, specifically to have someone here in the neighborhood, then goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is enough food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and cozy.

All animals have been ill and old to the health and vigor, those who are injured or maimed restored whole and strong, just as we do in our dreams of days and times of past recall through.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing to miss someone very special to them, which were ignored.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are fixed, eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from Tthe group, flying over the green grass, his legs faster and faster.

They have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally, you stick together in joyous reunion, never again a part. A rain of kisses on your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and looked again into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

After crossing the Rainbow Bridge together ....

You may not like my answer, but it is normal to be sad about a pet who has died. We pack one of my dogs to sleep a little more than a year, and I miss him terribly. We had another dog that was lost without him, so my parents decided to seek a dog for him. If your partner was just as you say, it is perfectly acceptable to cry. I am sorry for your loss, I know how you feel! : (
